When choosing an elephant experience in Thailand, visitors often see many different claims about care and responsibility. One useful piece of verifiable information is whether the camp has official certification and whether the certificate is current.
Our current certification
Lanta Elephant Lover by Lanta Elephant Conservation is certified under Thailand’s Good Agricultural Practices for Elephant Camps by the Department of Livestock Development. Our certification number is 02-6413-81-530-080005 and it is valid until 1 July 2028.
Why certification matters
Certification provides an official reference point that visitors can verify. It does not replace the need to ask questions or observe how a camp operates, but it adds accountability beyond marketing language alone.
Visitors should also look at the actual experience: whether riding or performances are offered, how guests are instructed, how the elephants’ comfort is considered and whether the operator is transparent about daily care.
How our visitor programs work
Our programs do not include elephant riding or performances. Guests may prepare and offer food under staff guidance, walk beside the elephants and learn about their individual stories. Activities depend on the elephants’ comfort, weather and conditions on the day.
Certification and continuous care
A certificate is one part of responsible operation. Daily observation by mahouts, access to food and drinking water, suitable rest, veterinary support when required and honest communication with visitors remain ongoing responsibilities.
