ELEPHANT WELFARE STANDARDS

Why Feeding and Walking Beside Elephants Can Be Responsible

Responsible interaction is not defined by the activity alone. It depends on how the activity is managed, whether the elephant can move naturally, and whether the elephant's welfare comes before the visitor schedule. Our feeding and walking experiences are designed around calm observation, respectful distance and guidance from experienced staff.

01

Controlled, Staff-Guided Feeding

Food is offered only under staff supervision. Visitors receive instructions about where to stand, how to hold food safely and when to pause. Feeding is managed as a short, structured activity—not unrestricted feeding throughout the visit.

02

Walking Beside, Not Riding

Guests observe the elephants while walking on the ground at a safe distance. The pace and route follow the conditions of the day, allowing the elephants to walk, browse and stop naturally. We do not offer elephant riding or performances.

03

Choice, Space and Rest

Interactions may be shortened, changed or paused when an elephant needs space or rest. Visitors must follow staff directions and should never chase, surround, shout at or force contact with an elephant.

04

Safety and Daily Welfare Checks

Activities are adjusted for weather, trail conditions and each elephant's behaviour on the day. Welfare and safety take priority over photographs, timing and completing every planned activity.

Our guiding principle: Observe calmly. Follow the elephant's pace. Respect staff instructions. Never force interaction.

Every elephant is an individual. The exact route, distance and level of interaction can vary according to welfare, safety and environmental conditions.
